From practice

Microsoft 365 is rarely set up wrong on day one. It degrades gradually: one account for a new contractor, one MFA exception for a director, a shared mailbox that became a fully licensed user.

The audit always starts from three questions: which accounts are active that should not be, which licences are paid for but unused, and where access exists without MFA. The answers are almost always more interesting than management expects.

Prerequisites

  • Administrative access to the tenant
  • Control of the domain and its DNS records
  • A list of users with roles and access requirements
  • A decision to enable MFA across all users

Cost

Initial remediation is quoted as a project, based on user count and tenant condition. Ongoing management sits within the support agreement at a monthly charge. Microsoft licences are billed separately, at manufacturer cost.

We do not publish a price list. Every proposal follows a site survey and separates hardware from labour.

Frequently asked questions

Does Microsoft 365 back up my email?

Not in the way a business means it. Microsoft guarantees service availability, not recovery of data deleted months ago or encrypted by ransomware. Backup of the tenant is a separate service.

Does MFA have to apply to everyone?

Yes, and it is the single highest return security measure relative to its cost. The exceptions requested for convenience are precisely the accounts attackers target first.

Can we reduce licence cost?

Often yes, and it shows in the audit. The usual sources of waste are licences still assigned to leavers, and packages more expensive than the role actually requires.
