Frequently asked questions

What do RTO and RPO mean?

RTO is how long you can be out of operation. RPO is how many hours of work you can afford to lose. You set them per system, and they determine the solution and the cost.

Is a NAS a backup?

No. Drive redundancy protects against a failed drive, not against deletion, ransomware or fire. Every central store needs its own offsite copy.

Does Microsoft 365 take backups?

Not in the way a business means it. Microsoft guarantees service availability, not recovery of data deleted months ago or encrypted. Tenant backup is a separate service.

How long does a server or NAS installation take?

Typically 2 to 5 days, subject to hardware availability. Backup and disaster recovery implementation takes a further 1 to 2 weeks, including the first restore test.
