Remote Vessel Support

We support vessels under way through secure remote access to the ship network, so incidents do not wait for the next port call. Access is engineered to work over an unstable satellite link, and the crew holds a written procedure covering the actions they can safely perform on board themselves.

Who it is for

  • Ship managers with vessels in active service
  • Vessels with operational systems that need monitoring
  • Operators who currently send a technician for every incident
  • Offshore units whose data must reach the office reliably

When we are NOT the right choice

  • If there is no data link, or the link carries voice only
  • If no remote access to the systems is permitted
  • If the crew cannot carry out basic local actions

PROCESS

The process

Indicative times from signature of the proposal, subject to hardware availability. Every project is shaped to the size and the needs of the client.

  1. 01Vessel onboarding

We document the vessel network and systems and build the register that will be used in every incident from then on.Time: 5-10 working daysDeliverable: Network documentation and system register

  2. 02Secure access

We set up access with controlled rights, resilient to satellite link interruptions, without exposing anything to the internet.Time: During onboardingDeliverable: Access with defined rights, no open ports

  3. 03Crew reporting channel

The crew receives a written procedure: what to report, to whom, and which local actions they can safely perform.Time: During onboardingDeliverable: Written emergency procedure

  4. 04Incident handling

We connect, diagnose and intervene remotely. Where physical action is required, we guide the crew step by step.Time: Per agreed SLADeliverable: Resolution without waiting for port

  5. 05Monitoring and reporting

We monitor availability and critical systems and report periodically to the office on what happened and what should be scheduled.Time: Per reporting periodDeliverable: Availability and incident report

From practice

Without remote access, every incident on a vessel carries the same cost: it waits. It waits for the next port, for technician availability, and for a boarding window. Meanwhile the work continues on temporary workarounds.

The first thing we build is not a tool, it is documentation. Remote support on a vessel only works when you know in advance what is installed, where it connects, and what the crew can safely do.

Prerequisites

  • An active satellite or cellular data link
  • A network that allows controlled access
  • Agreement on access rights per system
  • A single point of contact at the office

Cost

Charged monthly per vessel, based on the number of systems and the SLA level. Technician attendance on board, when required, is quoted separately as a project, at preferential rates for vessels under agreement.

We do not publish a price list. Every proposal follows a site survey and separates hardware from labour.

What moves the cost

  • Number of vessels and systems per vessel
  • SLA level and out of hours coverage requirements
  • Quality and stability of the available link
  • Whether monitoring of operational systems is included

Frequently asked questions

Does remote support work over an unstable link?

Yes, because it is designed for exactly that. Access reconnects automatically and work is carried out in a way that tolerates interruptions rather than requiring a continuous end to end session.

What happens when physical action is needed?

We guide the crew step by step using the written procedure and the vessel register. Where that is not sufficient, attendance is scheduled at the next feasible port.

Is remote access to a vessel secure?

It is, provided it uses controlled rights and exposes nothing to the internet. The dangerous practice is not remote access itself, but the open ports that are often used in its place.

Do you also support the shore office?

Yes. Vessels and offices can be covered by the same agreement, giving one point of contact for the whole company infrastructure.

NEXT STEP

Bring your fleet under remote support

We start with one vessel: network documentation, secure access and a written procedure for the crew.
