The process

From practice

When back office applications stall or sessions drop, the cause is rarely where the symptom appears. The most common finding in an inventory is a flat network where computers, cameras, phones and guest wireless coexist with no separation and no priority for critical traffic.

VLAN segmentation is not a theoretical exercise. It is what keeps diagnosis down to minutes: you know which segment is affected and which is not, instead of searching across the whole site.

Prerequisites

  • Access to existing equipment and management credentials
  • Details of provider contracts and circuits
  • Cabling in working order, or included in the project
  • A nominated decision maker and agreed work windows

Cost

Quoted as a project with equipment, configuration and labour itemised separately, following an inventory of the existing estate. Where a support agreement is in place, ongoing network management is part of the monthly charge.

We do not publish a price list. Every proposal follows a site survey and separates hardware from labour.

What moves the cost

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need VLANs?

So that computers, cameras, phones and guest Wi-Fi do not share one network segment. Segmentation limits what can reach what, and makes fault diagnosis considerably faster.

Do I have to replace all the equipment?

Not necessarily. The inventory separates what can stay from what is a genuine obstacle. We always present a phased upgrade scenario with a priority order.

Will work stop during migration?

Critical changes are scheduled outside working hours with a rollback plan to the previous state. The objective is that the next working day starts normally.

Do you manage the network afterwards?

Yes, under a support agreement with 24/7 monitoring of critical systems and guaranteed response times. Charging is monthly, based on users, devices and SLA level.
